TRANSIT FUTURE BUS IN SQUAMISH TO GATHER FEEDBACK ON TRANSIT SYSTEM

The ‘Transit Future’ bus, a 40-foot bus reworked as a mobile public consultation tool, is touring Squamish on December 2 and 3.

In partnership with the District of Squamish, BC Transit is seeking input on proposed transit changes that will help improve the efficiency of the service. The Transit Future bus has been outfitted with information on the local transit system and opportunities for the public to provide feedback.

Increased Resources for Trails, More Programs, Recreation Advisory Committee-Recreation Services Corporate Review Released

The District of Squamish is pleased to release the findings from the Recreation Services Core Service Review presented to Council October 18, 2011. Increased resources to support community trails, more program development and diversity that meets the needs of all community groups and the creation of a Recreation Advisory Committee are some of the main recommendations that came out of the report. The Review conducted over this past summer by staff and consultants with input from community members, staff and stakeholders is part of the Service Squamish Initiative to achieve excellence in local government in Squamish. Recreation Services staff are enthusiastic to move the plan forward and to raise the bar on leadership,programming,service delivery and communication for recreation services in the District of Squamish.

GranFondo Traffic Impacts

On Saturday September 10, 2011, 7,500 cyclists will ride along the Sea to Sky Highway (Highway 99) from Vancouver to Whistler. Please be aware that significant traffic modifications will be in effect all along the course route.

Crumpit Woods Trails COUGAR Sighting

The Ministry of Environment Conservation Officer Service has issued a cougar warning in the Crumpit Woods trail area in Valleycliffe after a near miss this afternoon (Friday, June 10, 2011) involving a mountain biker and a cougar.
