2010 OLYMPICS AT SQUAMISH AIRPORT

Feb 05th '10

Operating Information
During the period January 29 to March 31, 2010, use of the Squamish Municipal Airport is to be undertaken with caution.   All existing regulations governing the use of an unregistered aerodrome continue to be in effect.  Operators should check for NOTAMs for closures (i.e. snow removal, icing) prior to flight planning to Squamish.

An on-site manager will be available during hours the CATSA screening unit is operating (0600 to 1800) to assist in the safe ground movement of aircraft and ground vehicles in the main apron area.  However, operators of aircraft using the Airport remain ultimately responsible for ensuring safe air and ground movements of their aircraft in and around the Airport. The centre of the main apron is the temporary parking area for all itinerant traffic accessing the CATSA screening unit.  The centre area is also the approach and take-off point for all itinerant rotary traffic.  All rotary traffic is expected to hover-taxi to or from this point.

The designated central parking area on the main apron area is for drop off and pick up only.  Itinerant parking cannot be guaranteed but parking areas have been designated and will be available as conditions permit.
The Squamish Flying Club clubhouse will also be open from 0600 to 1800 for passengers being dropped off in Squamish and not leaving via air.  Operators and passengers will be responsible for their own transportation arrangements to and from the Airport.
