The District of Squamish formally launched the Adopt A Trail program. The program encourages businesses, groups, and individuals to adopt a section or entire trail for one year.
The Adopt a Trail program encourages businesses, groups, and individuals to adopt a section or entire trail for one year. With the support of District staff, volunteers will help keep Squamish’s extensive network of trails clean and safe. Volunteers will visit the trail as often as
possible from April to October to pick up litter, clear fallen branches, and report vandalism, hazards and maintenance needs.
“Our trails system is world-class,” said Mayor Greg Gardner, “and that is directly attributable to the volunteer spirit of our community. The benefit of the Adopt A Trail program to the community will be a trails system maintained to the high standards set by those who built it.”
“Trails are an invaluable resource to this community,” said Todd Pope, District of Squamish Trails
Coordinator. “This program creates an opportunity for schools or community groups, businesses or
individuals to contribute to our amazing trail system. “The District invites everyone to explore the Adopt a Trail website: www.squamish.ca then follow the Adopt A Trail quick link. The site features a detailed description of what’s involved, a complete listing of trails available to be adopted, and online registration.
Squamish – the Outdoor Recreation Capital of Canada – has 313 trails covering more than 222 km.
The world-class, volunteer-built trail network ranges from expert mountain bike singletrack to leisurely walking paths along the oceanfront.
The District values the hard work and dedication of all volunteers as well as the benefits the trail system provides to the entire community.
