District of Squamish is Proud to Announce the Launch of the District's New GIS Mapping System

The District of Squamish is proud to announce the launch of the Squamish GIS (geographic information system) Map Viewer to the public. The web based program is a powerful visual information tool providing a window into the District's geographic information system. This system allows the public to see and share mapping and related information for business, personal or recreational use.

The Squamish GIS Map Viewer was built using the latest innovative technology. It provides access to a variety of property and utility information, along with interactive map tools and reporting features.

"The GIS Mapping system has become a regular part of government services and the District is able to leverage the latest technology to provide the highest level of service," said Mayor Greg Gardner. "It allows the District greater collaboration with the community and increases informed public participation. It is also an important tool for managing infrastructure and delivering service in an efficient way," continued Gardner.

Some of the GIS Map Viewer features and information currently available include:

Parcel Viewer

Parcel Layer: (parcel boundaries, civic address, legal descriptions, zoning, assessment values) links to zoning bylaws and Google Maps

Trails Layer: (trail name, type, difficulty, zone, data source, length)

Zoning Layer: (zoning designation, type, area) links to zoning bylaws

Base Maps: Street Map and 2009 Aerial Photos

 

Utilities Viewer

Water System: (valves, facilities hydrants, water mains, service life) 

Sanitary System: (lift stations, manholes, sewer mains, service life)

Storm System: (manholes, catch basins, ditches culverts, mains)

Dykes: (centerline, structures, assessments) 

Parcel Layer: (parcel boundaries, civic address, legal descriptions, zoning, assessment values) links to zoning bylaws and Google Maps

Base Maps: Street Map and 2009 Aerial Photos
