District of Squamish Re-launches District Website

Mar 02nd '09

After several months of careful research, planning and development, the District of Squamish is pleased to announce today the official re-launch of its website www.squamish.ca. The focus of the redesign is to create easier navigation and add more resources while continuing to provide helpful and informative information regarding the District of Squamish.

“One of the main goals for the redesign was to create a welcoming impression on a home page that is engaging and represents our spectacular Squamish community,” said Mayor Greg Gardner. “It is also about having the most current information in the most visible position. Good communication tools are essential for local government and with our website the most up-to-date and relevant information needs to be the first thing users see when they arrive to our website. The added side bar also gives users quicker access to information and provides a more user-friendly navigation to visit the rest of the site,” continued Gardner.

The site offers new innovative ideas and improvements including customer-friendly features such as the Quick Links and Download section offering users easy access to applications and forms such as the “Customer Service Feedback Form” and a “Building Permit” application form. The redesign of the City Hall section streamlines access to Municipal departments, contacts and links for easier navigation throughout the site. Another feature added is the Frequently Asked Questions section to quickly answer the most common questions. The Residents sections has a great deal of new content and easy to navigate format.

The development and redesign of the website is a result of team effort and coordinated work with local website development company Venture Web. The District invites comments on its new website redesign and suggestions for its further development. Comments can be sent through to communications [at] squamish [dot] ca
