The Board of Directors of the Squamish Public Library is pleased to announce that Ella-Fay Zalezsak has been hired as Library Director. Ms. Zalezsak will lead all the activities of the Squamish Public Library.
Ms. Zalezsak is an experienced librarian who has served in both public
and academic libraries. Ms. Zalezsak has served in management positions
at the Oakville Public Library, Dalhousie University and most recently
at Vancouver Community College where she provided a broad range of
library services highlighted by initiatives to improve customer service
and introduce new technical services. Ms. Zalezsak has strong
experience in implementing library programs to meet community needs,
developing library collections, welcoming new technology to deliver
library services, building consensus, budget management, strategic
planning , building management and staff relations.
“We are thrilled to have Ella-Fay Zalezsak join us as Library Director.
We feel confident that despite the retirement of Maureen Painter, who
was a strong library leader in this community, we have welcomed in
another Library expert to carry our library forward into the future.
Ella-Fay has all the skills and experience we were looking for and a
stellar personality too!” said Tara Franz, Chair of the Library Board.
Ms. Zalezsak holds a Masters of Library Science and an Honours Bachelor
of Arts both from the University of Toronto. Ms. Zalezsak is looking
forward to a move to Squamish.
Ms. Zalezsak commented, “I am thrilled to be a part of the Squamish
community. I am looking forward to working with the Library Board,
Staff, Volunteers, the District of Squamish and the Friends of the
Library in delivering quality library services”.
Ms. Zalezsak started her role as Library Director on January 2, 2012.
