For Immediate Release: District of Squamish and Lot 69

Dec 23rd '08

On December 4, 2008, the District of Squamish issued a notice to Triack Resources to vacate lands currently licensed by the District from the Province of British Columbia.

The notice comes after the two parties were unable to successfully negotiate a sublicence through a process that spanned over four (4)years.

The principal issue which could not be agreed upon was a security bond for the large quantities of waste materials which Triack was accepting and accumulating on the site.

The deadline for Triack to vacate has been set at May 31, 2009.

“The District worked very hard to try to reach agreement on terms of a sublicence,” stated Mayor Greg Gardner.  “When it became apparent that no progress was being made, and that Triack was not in compliance with the previously agreed limit on the quantity of waste on the site, a notice to vacate was issued to protect the interests of the community.”
