District of Squamish Mayor Greg Gardner and Dan Doyle, Squamish Olympic Liaison for the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) announce the appointment of Mr. Jason Cameron as VANOC’s 2010 Olympic Coordinator for Squamish.
Squamish, BC – District of Squamish Mayor Greg Gardner and Dan Doyle, Squamish Olympic Liaison for the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games (VANOC) announce the appointment of Mr. Jason Cameron as VANOC’s 2010 Olympic Coordinator for Squamish.
“I am pleased to have Mr. Cameron join our organization as a liaison between the District of Squamish and VANOC,” said Mayor Greg Gardner. “This appointment shows VANOC’s commitment to Squamish and that Squamish plays an important role in delivering a successful 2010 Winter Olympic Games. We look forward to working more closely with VANOC and having Mr. Cameron onboard helps ensure we move forward together and together put on the best Winter Olympic Games,” continued Mayor Gardner.
The 2010 Olympic Coordinator for Squamish’s role is to coordinate Olympic related activities as they would affect or benefit the district. Some activities include transportation, emergency preparation, public safety and economic development. The coordinator acts as the principal point of contact with outside agencies dealing with Olympic planning, including VANOC, the Integrated Security Team and BC Transit. The coordinator also represents Squamish in transportation, planning and logistics meetings.
Mr. Cameron remains a VANOC employee jointly reporting to the District of Squamish and VANOC. Jason Cameron joined the Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in August 2003 and spent the first two years developing the Committee’s Master Planning Schedule. With VANOC’s construction team, Jason helped plan and develop the new Olympic venues and spent three years working on the Nordic Centre in the Callaghan Valley.

Before joining Vancouver 2010, Cameron spent many years in various Project Management roles with consulting Engineering firms H.A. Simons Limited, and AMEC Americas Limited. Cameron has a Bachelors degree in Mathematics and English from Simon Fraser University.
