Live at Squamish Success Brings Economic Benefit to Squamish
The District of Squamish rocked over the August 20-21 weekend as music revelers descended on Squamish by the thousands to attend the 2nd Annual Live at Squamish Festival. This growing event brought economic benefits to the community, showcased Squamish as an event destination and reaffirmed our brand as the Outdoor Recreational Capital of Canada.
The District of Squamish rocked over the August 20-21 weekend as music revelers descended on Squamish by the thousands to attend the 2nd Annual Live at Squamish Festival. This growing event brought economic benefits to the community, showcased Squamish as an event destination and reaffirmed our brand as the Outdoor Recreational Capital of Canada.
"We are increasing our capacity to effectively service events while learning to enhance their economic benefits to our community,” said Dan McRae, Economic Sustainability Coordinator.
Live at Squamish hosted 8,900 festival goers on Saturday and 7,700 were in attendance on Sunday. Squamish hotels were full and restaurant and businesses were kept busy all weekend long. Squamish was also busy on social media sites including Twitter where Live at Squamish was Twitter's third highest trending topic in Canada over the festival weekend.
"Squamish received wide spread media coverage over the Live at Squamish weekend and that exposure showcased our community in a very positive manner," said Mayor Greg Gardner. "The District of Squamish is proud of our successful partnership with BrandLive and we look forward to continuing the partnership as we work together on next year's event," continued Gardner.

The District of Squamish's Economic Development Department is facilitating business development, assisting local business organizations, and promoting the community in order to expand trade and investment opportunities in Squamish.
