It is recognized that some builders may want to continue construction during this season. Therefore, during the period between 3 p.m. on December 24, 2010 and January 3, 2011 builders will have two options:

1. The builder can continue construction on the project to the point where a field review is required and then make a request for a field review by leaving a message for Building Inspections at (604) 815-6872. Construction must then be terminated until the required field review is carried out by a Building Official, after the Hall re-opens on Tuesday January 4, 2011; OR

2. Provided that the District is notified by 4:30 p.m., Thursday, December 23, 2010, of the builder’s intention to proceed under this option, the builder may retain the services of a Registered Professional, experienced in residential or commercial construction, to undertake the required field reviews normally performed by the Building Official. The Registered Professional’s sealed field review report must be submitted to the District stating, without qualification or exceptions, that the work reviewed and approved by the Registered Professional is in compliance with the BC Building Code and all relevant District Bylaws and regulations. The only limitation on this option is that the Registered Professional is not allowed to approve or permit occupancy of a building. The District must receive the Registered Professional’s field review report(s) before it will resume field reviews on the construction project. Registered Professional’s field review reports will not be accepted for field reviews performed before December 25, 2010 or after January 4, 2011.
