The District of Squamish has a week-long line up of clean up and beautification programs to participate in during PITCH-IN WEEK April 20 - 26.
PITCH-IN WEEK EVENT LISTINGS
To Kick off PITCH-IN WEEK a challenge has been declared between
Council, the local media and the students from Howe Sound Secondary
School to a Fastest Picker Showdown on Monday, April 20, 2009 at 3:20
p.m. at Howe Sound Secondary School. The challenge is for each team to
clean up a specific area of litter using pickers and garbage bags
provided.
Take the 20 Minute Makeover Challenge April 21, 2009 – Businesses and
residents are encouraged to go outside and pick up litter for 20
minutes. Register your business or as an individual and be entered to
win some great prizes.
Community Clean-Up Days April 25 & 26, 2009- Squamish residents and
community groups are encouraged to “pitch in” and clean-up during
Community Clean-Up Days by adopting a street or area in the community.
All volunteers should register for Community Clean-Up Days by calling
PITCH-IN WEEK’S Headquarters at 604.815.6868. Registered groups will be
provided with free PITCH-IN WEEK garbage bags, and gloves.
“Free Dump Days” April 25 & 26, 2009 – Squamish residents can
dispose of non-hazardous residential waste for free (excluding dry
wall) from 8:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. (last load) on April 25 and April
26. Residents unable to participate in the “Free Dump Days” can contact
the Operations Department 604.815.6868.
