District of Squamish has Declared PITCH-IN CANADA WEEK in Squamish April 20-26 and Free “Dump Days” April 25 and 26
Squamish Council declared at the March 3rd Council Meeting PITCH-IN CANADA WEEK in Squamish, April 20 to 26, 2009 and authorized free disposal days at the landfill commonly known as “Free Dump Days”, of non-hazardous residential waste and waste material collected throughout this community by volunteers, groups, and local residents on April 25 and 26, 2009.
PITCH-IN WEEK is a week-long community pride, clean-up and beautification celebration that is part of the PITCH-IN CANADA program. All Squamish residents are encouraged to participate in Community Clean-Up days April 25 & 26 by adopting a street or area in the community.
Registration from groups, clubs and individuals has now begun. By registering now helps the District’s Operation Department order enough services and supplies for PITCH-IN WEEK. Registered groups are provided with free PITCH-IN WEEK garbage bags and gloves.
Residents can also help by calling in “need of attention” areas that require machines to haul out debris. Requests for these areas will be accepted until April 10, 2009.
Register now and be kept up to date on the projects and events being planned for PITCH-IN WEEK. For more information on how to become actively involved or to register your intent to participate call PITCH-IN WEEK Headquarters at 604.815.6868 or by emailing publicworks [at] squamish [dot] ca
