Squamish Digs Out From Winter Storm

INFORMATION BULLETIN: District crews continue to plow and clear District streets after receiving approxomately 25 cm of snow overnight. Roads are plowed by priority to open arterial roads, emergency response routes and bus routes first. Residents can help by not parking in no parking areas and not passing snow plow trucks. Squamish businesses are reminded of their responsibility to remove snow and ice from their sidewalk and foot-path no later than ten o'clock in the morning.

The District of Squamish appreciates the snow clearing quickly done by citizens and businesses around Squamish this morning. The snow has stopped, but the next weather system is calling for rain for the rest of the week. Residents can help District crews by clearing the snow from the sidewalk and shovelling the snow out of the catch basin in front of their house to help reduce the risk of local flooding.

Some tips to keep you and your family safe after a winter storm.

Snow piles or roadside snow banks can be very dangerous keep children safe and don't let them play on roadside snow piles and snow banks.
Residents can help the crews clear the streets by not parking on the road after a snowfall when possible.
When shoveling snow, pile it on your property, not out on the street or the sidewalk.
Check and clear the catch basins in front of your property.
