The District of Squamish and Bear Aware invite the community to join them at the third annual Bear Awareness Community Event on September 25, 2010 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Squamish Adventure Centre. This is a fun, family- friendly community event to learn about Squamish’s unique natural setting and its inhabitants: black bears/wildlife and the programs that are in place. Come out and meet the different organizations that work together for our environment within our community.
Event Highlights:
Slide Show with Michael Allen - photographer and researcher Michael Allen will illustrate the foraging behaviors of females and the relationships between weight gain, berries, and cubs amongst the longest studied black bear population at Whistler.
Kids – will enjoy making crafts, playing in the bouncy castle, listening to bear stories watching bear movies in the theatre and having a chance to win great prizes.
The Passport to Learning – Receive a Passport to Learning when you arrive and as you visit each community booth get a stamp on your passport; once you have completed your passport, enter it to win a great gift basket.
