Community Conversation/Town Hall Meeting
Have Your Say in the 2010 Budget
Squamish residents are invited to meet with Squamish Council to discuss 2010 budget priorities at a “café style” Town Hall meeting on March 17, 2010 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Squamish Seniors’ Centre located at 1201 Village Green Way.
The “café style” meeting will have representatives from Council and
Staff seated around tables with members of the community ready to
discuss budget-focused topics.
Each table will discuss a specific municipal department and converse
about services that are important, services to maintain and possible
changes to services. A representative at each table will write down the
group’s thoughts, ideas, issues and responses. After a set time
everyone except the representatives will move to the next table.
“The “café style” meeting is intended to have a more one-on-one meeting
format and allows individuals who prefer not to speak in front of a
crowd a chance to share those thoughts and ideas directly with Council
and Staff,” said Mayor Gardner. “This is an opportunity for the
community to provide significant input on the direction of Squamish’s
future.”
Once around all the tables each representative will provide a quick
review to the group followed by a questions & answers period.
Results from the survey and information received at the meeting will be complied and presented at a future Council meeting.
Squamish Council is interested in hearing from the whole community on
the District’s finances and invites those that cannot attend the March
17, 2010 meeting to fill out a survey on-line at www.squamish.ca or by
filling one out at Municipal Hall before March 31, 2010.
The District of Squamish Financial Plan is developed through a series
of public Council meetings, resulting in a bylaw that must be adopted
before May 15, 2010.
