Flushing watermains is done each year in spring and/or fall to maintain water quality, maximize hydraulic capacity and remove stagnant water at dead ends. This year flushing will be done by a means known as Unidirectional Flushing (UDF) which isolates pipe sections in an organized sequential manner. UDF is more effective and uses less water.
As part of the District watermain-flushing program, District staff will start to clean the pipes beginning the week of October 11 until the end of November (weather permitting) begining in the Valleycliffe and Hospital Hill areas.
Cleaning will take place from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm for these areas.
There may be brief periods when the water becomes cloudy, discolored or have a mild chlorine taste. This will not pose a health hazard. The water is safe to drink. There may also be short interruptions to your water service.
The District will try to minimize any inconvenience.
