Flushing watermains is done each year in spring and/or fall to maintain water quality and maximize hydraulic capacity.  This year flushing will be done by a method known as Unidirectional Flushing (UDF), which isolates pipe sections in an organized sequential manner.  UDF is more effective and uses less water than traditional methods.

There may be brief periods when the water becomes cloudy, discoloured or have a mild chlorine taste.  Running your outside tap will help speed up the clearing of your water lines.

There may also be short interruptions to your water service.  This will not pose a health hazard.  The water is safe to drink.

District staff will try to minimize any inconvenience.  If you have any questions please call 604-815-6868.
