Respect

At the District of Squamish, the key components that define respect are:

  • Valuing people and diversity

It is law that we do not discriminate against another person based on several
factors including age, race, colour, ancestry, national or ethnic origin, political
belief, religion, marital status, family status, disability, sex (including sexual
harassment and pregnancy) and/or sexual orientation.  More importantly, we
must recognize that we are all different-and bring different strengths and
contributions to the table.  We embrace our co-workers' different strengths
          and attributes.

  • Non-judgmental

When working with others, rather than immediately being critical, disparaging
or negative, it is more effective to have an open mind. What is going on for
the other person?  A mistake made could be due to lack of training or
understanding.  How could his/her ideas work?  You may find that opening
your mind results in more creative results.
