Getting Around Squamish February 2010

During the 2010 Winter Games, BC Transit will provide enhanced service to Whistler for the month of February.

The regular Sea to Sky Commuter bus to Whistler is cancelled and replaced with the
Squamish Connector #98.

Note: the Sea to Sky Commuter resumes to its normal schedule March 1, 2010.

The Squamish Connector #98 bus stop is at the 2010 Squamish Transit Exchange
on Discovery Way between Industrial and Commercial Ways by Walmart and Home Depot.

Getting to Events

To encourage spectators to take transit to their event, tickets to Olympic events
include complimentary access to BC Transit services during the entire day of their
scheduled event until 4:00 am the next morning.
BC Transit services will increase significantly during Games Time with additional buses, increase service levels, new routes and 24 hour bus service from Squamish to Whistler.

Squamish Local Service during February 2010

BC Transit has added the 201 Brackendale Shuttle, the 202 Highlands Shuttle and the 203 Valleycliffe Shuttle with added frequency (no shuttle between 9am-2pm) and
includes Sunday travel to bring passengers to the Squamish 2010 Terminus.

Adult $1.75 Senior $1.50 Student to grade 12 $1.25 Child under 5 years no charge.

Sea to Sky residents with Olympic Tickets board regular BC Transit at no cost.

Olympic volunteers and workers have access to free transit on the days they are
working by showing their accreditation.

Note: regular Squamish-Whistler Commuter rates are not available February 2010.

Local Shuttle Buses

Regular Squamish local rates are available for local travel in Squamish. There is no
change to local service during February 2010.

Which Olympic venues will BC Transit serve?

BC Transit will provide service to two Olympic competition venues: Whistler Creekside (Alpine Skiing) and the Whistler Sliding Centre (Bobsleigh, Luge and Skeleton). The bus will take you to the designated loading and unloading zones at the two venues served by BC Transit.

Squamish Residents Complimentary VANOC shuttles departing from the Squamish Transit Exchange to the Whistler Olympic Park directly in February 2010.

If you are a resident of Squamish and have an event ticket for the Whistler Olympic Park, have a boarding pass, and government issued photo ID showing you reside in Squamish – you have access to the Whistler Olympic Park (WOP) complimentary shuttle leaving from  Squamish Transit Exchange on Discovery Way (beside the Walmart) at the time specified on your boarding pass.

If you are a guest of a resident of Squamish, you are travelling with that resident of Squamish, you both have an event ticket for the WOP, you each have a boarding pass, and the resident you are travelling with has government issued photo ID showing you reside in Squamish – you both have access to the Whistler Olympic Park (WOP) complimentary shuttle leaving from  Squamish Transit Exchange on Discovery Way (beside the Walmart) at the time specified on your boarding pass.

If you are a guest staying in provided accommodations in Squamish but are travelling alone or NOT with a resident of Squamish but you have an event ticket for the Whistler Olympic Park, you do not have a boarding pass, and you do not have a government issued photo ID showing you reside in Squamish – you will have to wait to see if the VANOC complimentary shuttle you are trying to board is full. You are NOT guaranteed a space on the WOP complimentary shuttle. You may be denied access to the WOP complimentary shuttle due to capacity limitations. You do have access to the #98 Express into the Whistler Village at any time.

You are not a resident of Squamish, you do not have a boarding pass but you have a ticket to the Whistler Olympic Park. -  you have access to the #98 Express into the Whistler Village.
