The District of Squamish provides enforcement of the Animal Control Bylaw and has contracted to the SPCA for cats and injured animals. Animal Control can assist you with: bylaw infractions, dog licenses, lost and found, dog impounds, claims and adoptions.

Services

Volunteer Dog Walking - The District of Squamish is seeking volunteers for the municipal Animal Control Pound facility. Would you be interested in walking Pound dogs? How often? What time of day? Come in and fill out an application form.

Dog Adoption - There are dogs currently up for adoption at the Dog Pound, call 604.815.6866 and find out how to adopt a pet.

Donations - Animal Control welcomes donations of all kinds to assist in the operation of the Pound.

Reporting Strays - If you see a stray dog contact the Animal Control Section at 604.815.6866 for pick up.

Licence Your Pet - Dog licences are required in Squamish for all dogs over the age of 8 weeks and can be purchased at Animal Control, 39903 Government Road or at Municipal Hall, 37955 Second Avenue.

Visit the Dog Pound - Visitors are welcome at the Pound from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Lost a Pet - Have you lost a pet? Call the Animal Control Pound at 604.815.6866.

Reporting Bylaw Violations- Squamish has a Customer Service process that ensures reported bylaw violations are handled in a consistent and fair manner.

Bylaw infractions/dangerous dogs are a concern for all residents please contact the Animal Control Department to report a dangerous dog or for general information regarding the bylaws and or dangerous dogs.
