Protective Services

The Protective Services Department encompasses five branches of our community’s public safety response: Animal Control, Bylaw Enforcement, Fire Rescue, RCMP and Squamish Emergency Program. Created in June 2004, the department consolidates and integrates these branches into a more effective team at solving problems for our clients – the citizens of Squamish.

Public safety and emergency management have always been critical functions of local governments. However, in current times, there is a need for these roles to enhance partnerships, both in our community and within the national and provincial safety networks.

The goals and objectives of Protective Services, aligned with the District of Squamish Strategic Plan, are directed towards making the community of Squamish a safer environment in which to live, learn, work and play.
