Fire Rescue

District of Squamish Fire Rescue proudly protects 16,000 people living in an area of 40 square miles, operating out of two stations and protecting a primarily residential area. Our department is a public department whose members are a combination of paid and volunteer status. We have an ISO rating of 5.
Squamish Fire Rescue provides efficient 911 fire and rescue services to areas within the municipal boundaries and emergency aid to specific areas outside the District. For fires, five fire engines and an aerial ladder truck are available to pump 19,100 litres of water per minute. We have a salvage and rescue van, an extrication vehicle, two command vehicles and two vehicles for inspections.
Squamish Fire Rescue repairs its own equipment and two staff are government certified to perform preventative maintenance. Two Fire Prevention Inspectors perform fire inspections. The Stenographer handles all administrative calls from residents and makes appointments for Inspections.
The Department currently sponsors, supports or is involved in sixteen community oriented activities. We have "Buster the Fire Pup" to comfort the young victims of disaster and through the Provincial Emergency Program a Burned Out Family Assistance Program for residents in conjunction with the R.C.M.Police Victim Assistance Program. We feel we offer one of the best protective services in B.C
