Five Year- Transit Business Plan
The Squamish Five-Year Transit Business Plan process was launched in mid-November 2007. The business plan is was prepared by UMA Engineering Ltd. on the behalf of the District and BC Transit. The project was guided by a steering committee that includes staff from UMA, the District, BC Transit, and Whistler Transit Ltd. Key business plan objectives include:
- Improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the Squamish conventional and handyDART systems, as well as regional connections to Whistler and the metro Vancouver area.
- Identify related programs to improve transit, such as fares, capital investments, improved transit information, and transportation demand management initiatives.
- Determine short, medium, and long-term operating and capital requirements to better serve existing passengers, attract new ones, meet population growth, and take advantage of new provincial and federal funding opportunities.
- Examine opportunities for further integration between transportation providers.
- Develop service and performance monitoring guidelines.
