WaterWorks
Powerhouse Springs Wells are the District's main water source for the whole Municipality. The Mashiter and Stawamus Rivers are the District's backup emergency water sources.
Municipal water treatment includes chlorination, but no fluorination.
District of Squamish bacteriological test results will be posted a weekly beginning with February 2012.
Vancouver Coastal Health inspection reports and sample range annual summaries are available on www.healthspace.ca/vch. (Choose “drinking water” then Squamish.)
Connections
New Water Connections
Application forms and a fee schedule are available at the reception counter in the Engineering and Parks Department. Once the application is completed, please return it with payment to the Community Development Department. Your application will be forwarded to the Operations Department, Water Works Section to schedule the installation.
New Sewer Connections
Application forms and a fee schedule can be picked up at the reception counter in the Engineering and Parks Department. Once the application is completed, please return it to the Community Development Department. Your application will be forwarded to the Operations Department, Water Works Section to schedule the installation.
Line Maintenance
Water Line Maintenance
Residents are responsible for their water line connections from the house to the property line; the municipal crews are responsible for the water lines from the property line on.
Sewer Line Maintenance
Homeowners are responsible for blockages on their service from the home to the sewer main. The District is responsible for structural failures on District land, but not blockages.
Water Service Locations
Contact the Engineering Section of the Engineering and Parks Department to ascertain the location of your water service. If necessary, the Operations Department, Water Works Section, will attend on site to determine the exact location of the service.
Water Turned On/Shut Off
Application forms and a fee schedule are available at the reception counter in the Engineering and Parks. Once the application is completed and fees are paid, the Operations Department, Water Works Section will schedule a time to shut your water off and turn it back on.
Hydrant Use
Applications can be picked up at the reception counter in the Engineering and Parks. Once the application is completed and fees paid, the Operations Department, Water Works Section will inspect the hydrant for damages prior to your deposit being refunded.
