Cougar Alert - Trail Closure
The District of Squamish, in partnership with the Conservation Officer Service, is issuing a trail closure public awareness message.
The Conservation Officer Service has closed a portion of the Ray Peters Trail on Ross Road. Signage has been posted. The affected section of the trail runs parallel to Ross Road between Depot Road and north to the left hand corner where the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is located.
The Conservation Officer Service is requesting that the public stay out of this section of the trail until further notice.
We would like to remind everyone to be alert and aware at all times. Please keep pets inside, particularly at night, encourage children to walk in groups and to stay on the roadways and away from greenspaces. Please keep dogs on leash.
Please call all cougar sightings or encounters to the Conservation Officer Service 24 hour hotline at: 1-877-952-7277 (RAPP) or #7277 on your cell phone.
