Rock scaling work to take place on The Chief following rock slide

BC Parks has issued a notice on their website regarding rock scaling work that will take place following the April 19, 2015 rock slide on the Stawamus Chief. The notice reads: Rock scaling work is being done from May 20 through May 22 in the vicinity of the rock fall that occurred in the Angel’s Crest area. The public is asked to observe all trail closures and to stay away from the area until further notice.

A geotechnical analysis and report, commissioned by the Squamish Emergency Operations Centre, was conducted immediately following the April 19th rock fall. Staff from BC Parks and the Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations are working together with Ministry Qualified Professionals to further assess the situation and the report recommendations.
