Temporary Lifting of Fire Ban in Squamish and throughout BC

Following the Province of BC's temporary lift of a fire ban across the Coastal Fire Centre, the District of Squamish Fire Chief has lifted the Open Fire Ban in Squamish. Both the Province and Squamish Fire Rescue stress that this lift will be temporary. The return to hot and dry conditions after the weekend is expected to prompt a re-introduction of the fire ban prior to the August long weekend.

The Province's fire ban notice can be viewed here.

Please stay tuned for further updates. Thank you.

Please be reminded, a Fire Permit (no charge) is required in order to have a backyard fire. District staff are working on automating this system to allow for online permitting. In the meantime, a permit can be obtained at the Tantalus Fire Hall, ,40439 Tantalus Road. Hours of business are Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to noon and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (closed between noon and 1pm).
