Wildlife Alert: trail re-opening
The District of Squamish, in partnership with the Conservation Officer Service, is issuing a trail re-opening public awareness message.
Due to no evidence of further cougar activity in the area, the Conservation Officer Service has re-opened the portion of the Ray Peters Trail that runs parallel to Ross Road between Depot Road and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
A reminder to all residents that we live in cougar country and cougar sightings can occur within any of the trail networks. Please be alert and aware, keep pets inside at night, encourage children to walk in groups and to stay on the roadways and away from greenspaces, unless accompanied by an adult. Please keep dogs on leash.
Please call all cougar sightings or encounters to the Conservation Officer Service 24 hour hotline at: 1-877-952-7277 (RAPP) or #7277 on your cell phone.
